How did

Travel In Her Footsteps begin?

It was never my intention to become an expat. You could go as far as saying it was the furthest thing from my mind to even think about leaving Ireland 10 years ago. Then I met a few open minded girls when studying nursing in college. They spoke about travel with such enthusiasm and passion and it ignited a thirst for the unknown within me. Before going to college I holidayed in Ireland year after year and had known no different. After graduating I moved to London to nurse and began to plan long weekends away to different destinations within Europe. My 4 visited countries took quite the leap to 23, then 28 and I still wanted more.

Now I am an expat and I’ve certainly caught the travel bug. I’m not ready to head back to Ireland’s green pastures just yet! I’m excited to see more, travel further and experience life in different countries.
The best is yet to come!

about me

Pack your bags, we’re going on an adventure!

I (Kate Finegan) am an Irish native who gave up my nursing career in Ireland to follow my dreams of becoming a world traveller. I am exploring this beautiful world one country at a time. I now call Sydney, Australia home away from home. I have travelled to over 28 countries around the world.

I am a firm believer in the power of positivity, mindset is everything. I have a huge passion for travelling and adventure and my aim is to inspire others to make the most of life and most importantly follow their dreams, whatever they may be.

My niche and area of expertise is affordable travel combined with adventure activities. Through my blog my aim is to educate and encourage others to travel more and explore the unknown. I started this blog to inspire and enable others to travel more frequently by providing detailed planning and destination information, while dispelling myths that travel has to be expensive or difficult.
While Travel In Her Footsteps is run by me kate, my travels generally include my long term partner Conor and on occasions my fur baby Bonnie.

reasons to

travel

Why travel? I only have to hear the word ‘travel’ to get all starry eyed. I truely believe that everybody should travel at least once in their lifetime. Travelling is an amazing educator, it teaches you about life, makes you humble and inspires you with a sense of passion, where an ‘every day’ existence might not. I think travel helps you realize what’s out there too, you start seeing things differently. It reveals the possibilities that life has to offer. You see there’s more to life than what you’ve been led to believe. There’s a whole world out there to explore.
